The Language of Waves II explores the ocean as a form of communication—a rhythmic vocabulary spoken through movement, repetition, color and texture.

Across the expansive 30 x 40-inch canvas, hundreds of individually formed, heavily textured marks build upon one another like waves moving toward and away from shore. The repeated gestures create their own visual cadence: sometimes quiet and measured, sometimes energetic and insistent. No two marks are exactly alike, reflecting the endless variation found in the sea itself.

The color journey moves through deep, almost mysterious blue-greens into saturated turquoise, aqua, seafoam and luminous blue. Rather than a traditional horizon, the shifting bands of color suggest changing depths, currents and the places where water meets light. From a distance, the composition feels rhythmic and serene; up close, its dimensional surface reveals an entirely different experience of peaks, edges, shadows and subtle variations.

Texture is not simply an element of The Language of Waves II—it is its language. The tactile surface invites the work to be experienced beyond sight, reinforcing the idea that art can communicate through touch and physical sensation as powerfully as it does through color.

Like the ocean, the painting asks for no single interpretation. Its rhythm may evoke tranquility for one viewer, energy for another, or the familiar meditative feeling of standing at the water’s edge and listening as one wave follows another.

The Language of Waves II  is ultimately about connection—to water, to our senses, and to the quiet, universal language of repetition and movement.
