Undertow captures the unseen force of water—the powerful currents that move beneath an ever-changing surface. Sweeping strokes of deep teal, sea green, charcoal, and muted blue converge and rise across the canvas, creating a strong sense of pull, turbulence, and continuous motion.

The composition seems to surge from a darker central depth, its layered gestures bending and separating like currents caught in opposition. Unexpected passages of ochre, rust, and warm gold break through the cooler palette, suggesting flashes of light penetrating the water and illuminating what lies below.

Texture intensifies the movement, allowing ridges and marks to become part of the current itself. There is both beauty and tension here: the seductive rhythm of the sea paired with an awareness of its hidden strength.

Undertow speaks to forces that cannot always be seen but can certainly be felt—the emotions, memories, and experiences that pull beneath the surface, quietly shaping the direction in which we move.
