Shadows in Sunlight explores the beautiful tension between illumination and darkness—those moments when opposites coexist rather than compete. Bursts of brilliant blue, turquoise, white, and sunlit yellow emerge from a deep, shadowed ground, creating a surface that feels simultaneously floral, aquatic, and entirely abstract.
Built through dense layers of texture and color, the composition invites the eye to wander and the hand to imagine the sensation of its richly dimensional surface. Areas of darkness give the brighter colors their intensity, while flashes of yellow move through the work like sunlight finding unexpected openings.
There is an intentional sense of discovery within the painting: the longer one looks, the more forms seem to emerge, disappear, and reappear. Shadows in Sunlight is ultimately about contrast—the idea that light becomes more powerful when experienced alongside shadow, and that beauty can often be found in the space where the two meet.
